The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on the S slopes of Piperstown Hill. A cairn known as its J. ‘Site J: A cairn of which only about three-quarters of the original appears to have survived. The northern portion is, at present, not visible and it may have been removed or, perhaps, was never constructed. It is crescentic in shape, about 4-75 m. by 3-50 m. in maximum E-W and N-S measurements respectively, and is about 20 cm. in maximum height. No evidence of a kerb.’ This is part of an extensive settlement and cemetery of Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age date (Rynne and Ó hEailidhe 1965, 66).
