The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on the W side of White's Villas. Noted as the site of a castle. Known as 'Black Castle' the castle was situated on the site later occupied by the Queens Hotel. It was in use as a billiard room in the late 18th-century (Ball 1906, 1, 77). It was demolished during the 1840's. No visible surface trace.
