In rough grazing, on the S-facing hillslopes of Bere Island. The remains of a rectangular hut site (4.3m NW-SE; 2.1m NE-SW) defined by contiguous slabs (max. H 0.75m) that are set against the bog bank of the upsloping NE side, and elsewhere by the jumbled remains of a stone wall (T 0.6m; H 0.5m) which protrudes above the surface of the bog. The level interior is partially obscured by rushes, gorse and sod-covered rubble. An enclosure (CO128-045003-) is c. 10m to the N.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
