The National Monuments Service's description
In rough grazing, on a break on the S-facing hillslopes of Bere Island. The remains of a D-shaped hut site (3.6m E-W) defined by a curving stone wall (T 0.7m; H 0.3m) with a straight W side (L 4.1m). The stone wall protrudes above the surface of the shallow bog. The level interior, which is obscured by rushes and rubble, is raised (H 0.2m) at the S and cut (D 0.3m) into the upslope at the N. One side of the damaged entrance to the hut site is evident as an upright slab (H 0.45m) at the E. Another hut site (CO128-045002-) lies c. 50m to the NE.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
