The National Monuments Service's description
This possible bullaun stone, which was known as a holy well in the past, was reported to the Archaeological Survey of Ireland by Tony Miller on the 10th of December 2014. He describes it as follows: "It is situated in the north-west corner of a field of improved pasture, near the top of a long, south facing ridge overlooking the Bride River valley. It comprises a large rounded, earth fast boulder, measuring c.1.6m N-S; c.1.1m E-W and c.0.35m in height. The well is towards the northern end of the boulder and is a deep sub-rectangular hollow which appears to be natural in origin. It measures c.0.12m E-W; c.0.2m N-S and c.0.48m in depth. There are a few other smaller, natural hollows in this rock including the possible start of a bullaun at the southern end of the stone.''
