The National Monuments Service's description

The hut site is situated in an area of rough grazing at northern end of the Cooleenmane River valley on a small rounded hillock near the base of a west facing slope. The land use is predominately for sheep grazing. A tributary of the river is c30m to east and to the west are the remains of a narrow, grassy track running the length of the valley. A sub-circular hut built of random field stones with some laid radially and others contiguously. The external measurements are c.3.2m E-W; c.3.5m N-S with walls a maximum 07.m H and 0.7m W. The interior is full of collapsed stones. The entrance (0.9m W) is to the north and has a c.1.1m L porched entranceway extending from it. Just to the W of the entrance a slab of stone (H 0.9m; Wth 0.7m; T 0.15m) has been set upright on an E-W axis. There is a length (c. 15m) of field boundary c.18m to the west partially buried by peat, curving E-W and connecting with the old track.
