The National Monuments Service's description
Archaeological testing was carried out in advance of a large multi-phase housing development at Carrigaline Middle in 2001. Two pits were uncovered to the N of a rath (CO087-030----). The first of these pits was identified as a subcircular deposit of light grey silty clay with frequent inclusions of charcoal-rich material and occasional angular and rounded stones (av. L. 5.5cm). The second pit (0.7m N-S; Wth 0.5m) had a maximum depth of c. 0.18m. (Sherlock 2002)
