The National Monuments Service's description

A large complex at mouth of inlet on E shore of Ballynacorra Estuary looking N to second maltings (CO076-074---). Indicated as Store on 1842 OS 6-inch map and Malthouse on 1933 OS 6-inch map. John Halloran listed as proprietor by Griffiths Valuation 1852, William Bennett listed as proprietor in Henry and Coughlans 'Directory' 1867 (pers. comm. C. Rynne). Drying house of 18 bays, 4-storey, gable-ended and built into slope on S side. Gabled addition at W end of S side may have been the 'steep house'; 4-storey addition at E end of S side known locally as 'side store' (ibid.). Kiln attached at E end with furnace houses. Interiors gutted (ibid). Malting complex (CO076-075---) in village to E.
