The National Monuments Service's description

This is one of two poorly preserved corn-drying kilns (CO067-086006-) that were uncovered within an early medieval enclosure (CO067-086----) during excavations along the route of the N25 Youghal Bypass in 2001. This kiln was located to the W of the circular structure (CO067-086001-) and, according to the excavator (Noonan 2001c), the base was all that survived. Two fills were recorded both of which contained burnt stone and charcoal (ibid., 86-7). (Noonan 2001c; 2003e, 29-30)

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
