The National Monuments Service's description
This structure was excavated within an enclosure (CO067-086----) at Ballynacarriga in 2001 during advance work on the N25 Youghal Bypass. The structure comprises a roughly rectangular area defined by several pits, shallow features and post-holes. This structure truncated an earlier circular structure (CO067-086001-) at the NE and may represent the upper NW corner of a rectangular building (Noonan et al. 2004, 17). (Noonan 2003e, 29-30; Noonan et al. 2004, 15-17)
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
