The National Monuments Service's description
In scrub land, on western shoulder of Moynass mountain, on steep N-facing slope. Circular area (21.3m E-W; 19.2m N-S) enclosed by uniform earthen bank (int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1m); external fosse (D 0.6m) NE->NNW. Stones scattered over surface of bank, fosse and interior; definite stone facing on external face of bank to N, SE and SW. On downslope side of enclosure, fosse replaced by c. 2m wide terrace. Interior slopes down steeply to N. Similar in plan to small ringfort but its location on steep mountain side and absence of entrance suggests a circular enclosure of unknown date.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
