The National Monuments Service's description
Built against rock face in quarry, on N side of Mallow; lime kiln indicated here on 1842 OS 6-inch map though present kiln has late 19th/early 20th-century appearance. Random-rubble walls encase earthen core. Front elevation (H c. 4.5m; Wth c. 8m) faces E; partially collapsed brick-arched recess with skewed brick-vaulted roof, stoking hole (0.24m x 0.24m) above iron sheet at rear with ope at base (H 0.9m; Wth 1.1m). Joist holes along N elevation, c. 1.5m above ground, supported lean-to structure. Ramp to rear. Top of kiln (6m E-W; 5.9m N-S) enclosed by partially collapsed stone walls with central rectangular ope in N wall; funnel infilled.
