The National Monuments Service's description
On a NE-facing slope in rocky rough pasture, with cliff edge extending E-W c. 30m to the N. Hachured on the 1842 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Hachured and named ‘Cahereenmoyle’ on the 1897 OS 25-inch plan and the 1920 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Indicated and named ‘Cathairín Maol’ on Robinson’s (1977) map. This subcircular cashel (int. dims. 25m NW-SE; 24m ENE-WSW) is defined by a substantial but collapsed wall (Wth 4.5m at W; max. ext. H 2m). The outer wall-face is well made with uncoursed blocks of varying sizes, and survives all around except from ENE to SE. A possible entrance at the E is indicated on the 1897 OS 25-inch plan and the 1920 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, but this was not visible during an inspection in 1999. There is a gap (Wth 0.9m) at the NE, seemingly associated with a later animal pen set into the outer face of the cashel. Two other animal pens are set into the outer wall-face at the W. The cashel interior slopes to the E. A further animal pen is built against the inner wall-face at the WSW. The inner wall-face seems to be of later construction.
