The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in the S centre of Caherwalsh cashel (CL009-059045-), this medieval house is defined by denuded and grass-covered walls (L 15m; 6.4m apart) (see Westropp 1897, 119, Fig. 5; FitzPatrick 2009, 285, Fig. 3; Bowmer 2019, 60). FitzPatrick (2009, 299) identified this as the tighe móir (‘big house’, i.e., main residence) of this cashel / mothair, dating to the late medieval period or perhaps as late as the second half of the 17th century (ibid. 284). Comber (2019, 146) assessed this house as ‘of typical 15th/16th-century size’.
