The National Monuments Service's description
On high ground (between the 600’ and 700’ contours) on the NW shoulder of Knockaunsmountain (OD 983’), with excellent views W-NW and, and within a large field system (CL004-027001-).
An irregularly shaped cairn of loose stones (4.2m E-W; 2.8m N-S), lowest (H 0.8m) at E and S and highest (max. H 1.2m) at W and N. The stones are piled on a slightly raised, heather-covered base (H 0.5m) which appears to have some earthfast stones at W (H 0.4m).
