Edifiée en 1889-1890, la gare était, dans le domaine architectural ferroviaire, l'un des plus beaux exemples de l'époque du Chemin de fer et port de La Réunion, avec ses colonnes caractéristiques, son toit en bardeaux et ses lambrequins. A l'origine, le terminus de la ligne à Saint-Pierre se situait sur le boulevart Hubert Delisle. Dès octobre 1890, la direction du chemin de fer déplace son terminus afin qu'il soit placé près du port. Servant actuellement de cadre à un café après avoir abrité la bibliothèque, le bâtiment a perdu l'inscription " Saint-Pierre " qui était portée sur ses façades. Les colonnes cannelées restent encore visibles.

History
Erected in 1889-1890, the station was, in the domain of railway architecture, one of the finest examples of the era of the Railway and port of La Réunion, with its characteristic columns, its shingle roof and its lambrequins. Originally, the terminus of the line at Saint-Pierre was situated on the boulevard Hubert Delisle. From October 1890, the railway direction moves its terminus so that it is placed near the port.
