Historique
L'hôtel Laçay aurait été édifié entre 1816 et 1837. Il sera utilisé comme siège de la Société de Marines Réunies lors de sa fondation en 1867, puis affecté à la brigade de gendarmerie de Saint-Paul. Acquis par la commune, il abritera l'école de garçons jusqu'en 1961, puis la caserne de pompiers jusqu'en 1996 et, enfin, servira de bureaux pour les services municipaux jusqu'à ce jour. L'édifice est un immeuble de plan rectangulaire muni de deux avant-corps et d'une galerie couverte vers la mer. La galerie, côté mer, qui a perduré jusqu'en 1950, était portée par des colonnes en bois et le garde-corps de l'étage était formé de balustres plats. L'immeuble est construit en maçonnerie de moellons hourdée à la chaux. Les entourages des baies et chaînages d'angle sont en pierre de taille.

History
The Laçay hotel would have been built between 1816 and 1837. It will be used as the headquarters of the Société de Marines Réunies upon its foundation in 1867, then assigned to the Saint-Paul gendarmerie brigade. Acquired by the commune, it will house the boys' school until 1961, then the fire station until 1996 and, finally, will serve as offices for municipal services to this day. The building is a rectangular-plan edifice equipped with two projecting sections and a covered gallery facing the sea. The gallery, on the sea side, which lasted until 1950, was supported by wooden columns and the railing of the upper floor was formed of flat balusters. The building is constructed of rubble stone masonry jointed with lime. The surrounds of the openings and corner quoins are of ashlar stone.
