Historique

History
Seigneurial dwelling of the Early Renaissance which has preserved sculptured elements from that period. Château built between 1514 and 1542. The courtyard façade has preserved, on the ground floor, the corbels and the springing of the ribs of the former gallery. The rear façade is pierced with a range of 16th-century windows. Inside, this construction has also preserved its authenticity with pebble flooring, ceilings with exposed beams, fireplaces in dressed stone. The round towers, at the rear of the main dwelling, crowned down at the Revolution, have preserved their jambs of openings and fireplaces with 16th-century mouldings. The square staircase tower, on the courtyard, presents a decorative façade of the Early Renaissance. The building houses a spiral staircase of which fourteen steps remain. The outbuildings forming an enclosed courtyard have parts dating back to the 16th century and others to the late 17th century, with slight alterations made in the 19th century. The cadastral plan of 1831 indicates the presence of water-filled moats on three sides of the quadrilateral formed by the château and its outbuildings. The earth ditches of these remain. To the rear of the château, there is a long terrace supported by three walls, the central wall being flanked by two turrets.
