Description

The façade on the rue Guilhem Peyre of this quality urban dwelling, probably built in the 13th century or the 14th century, originally opened through paired windows transformed into cross-windows (chamfered jambs and bordered by mouldings carved with foliage). The ground floor was widely open onto each street by two pointed arch doors. The level of the rear alley is lower than that of the rue Guilhem Peyre, which allowed the construction of a mezzanine storey, constructed after the building of the house since the floor of this half-storey comes up against the arch of the arcades which have been blocked in. The two upper storeys have identical distribution: a large room giving onto the rue Guilhem Peyre, and at the rear a smaller room bordering the stair. On the landing of the second storey, a niche was fitted into the thickness of the rear wall to serve as latrines.
