Description

The façade on the rue Guilhem Peyre of this quality urban dwelling, probably built in the 13th century or the 14th century, originally opened through paired windows transformed into cross-windows (chamfered jambs and bordered by mouldings carved with foliage). The house communicated for a time with 16 rue Guilhem Peyre. The roof in brick masonry is an addition of the 16th or 17th century and a new entrance door was created at the end of the 15th - beginning of the 16th century. The building is formed of two building blocks at right angles bordering a courtyard enclosed by a wall. The second building block was constructed in the 19th century. On the ground floor of the main block, the room giving onto the rue Guilhem Peyre was remodelled at the end of the 15th century or the beginning of the 16th by the addition of a spiral stair which serves the two upper storeys. At the rear the mezzanine was fitted out. On the second storey, two monumental fireplaces were added to the wall at the end of the 15th or beginning of the 16th century. The north and west walls preserve vestiges of wall paintings dating from the construction by hand at the end of the 13th century or the beginning of the 14th century.
