Historique
Bécordel-Bécourt sont deux localités près d'Albert et Méaulte formant aujourd'hui une seule commune. Bécourt, plus considérable autrefois, et renfermant le château, occupe un site élevé, vers le haut d'une colline et au milieu des bois. Bécordel et l'église Saint-Vaast, au contraire, se trouvent dans une vallée profonde traversée par un large fossé où viennent se décharger les eaux de l'Arrouaise. La voie romaine de Soissons à Sangatte, sur laquelle on a établi la route d'Albert à Péronne, passait autrefois par là. La façade est dominée par le clocher épaulé de contreforts, avec un porche auquel on accède par quelques marches. Celui-ci est soutenue par deux colonnes massives, avec une couverture en bâtière et un fronton orné d'un buste du Christ. Imitant la pierre, ce porche reprend un vocabulaire décoratif roman, mais avec un traitement anguleux et géométrique proche de l'Art déco. Le 30 novembre 1927, le céramiste Maurice Dhomme signe un contrat pour les travaux de l'église de Bécordel : ceux-ci comprennent un bénitier, le baptistère, le maitre-autel, un ambon, un autel de la Vierge, un confessionnal et une table à communion. Le prix net de ces travaux correspond à environ un dixième du budget de reconstruction de l'édifice. La réception définitive des travaux de reconstruction est stipulée par délibération du conseil municipal du 7 mai 1930.

History
Bécordel-Bécourt are two localities near Albert and Méaulte now forming a single commune. Bécourt, once more considerable, and containing the castle, occupies an elevated site, towards the top of a hill and in the midst of woodland. Bécordel and the church Saint-Vaast, on the contrary, are situated in a deep valley crossed by a wide ditch into which the waters of the Arrouaise discharge. The Roman road from Soissons to Sangatte, on which the road from Albert to Péronne was established, formerly passed through there. The façade is dominated by the bell tower supported by buttresses, with a porch accessed by a few steps. The latter is supported by two massive columns, with a roof covering and a pediment decorated with a bust of Christ. Imitating stone, this porch adopts a Romanesque decorative vocabulary, but with an angular and geometric treatment close to Art Deco. On 30 November 1927, the ceramicist Maurice Dhomme signed a contract for the works of the church of Bécordel: these comprise a holy water stoup, the baptistry, the high altar, an ambo, an altar of the Virgin, a confessional and a communion table. The net price of these works corresponds to approximately one tenth of the budget for the reconstruction of the building. The final acceptance of the reconstruction works is stipulated by the minutes of the municipal council meeting of 7 May 1930.
