Afin d'alimenter en eau la citadelle du Havre, les ingénieurs des fortifications décident en 1787 de capter des eaux sur Graville et de les rassembler dans un château d'eau en pied de falaise. History
In order to supply water to the citadel of Le Havre, the fortifications engineers decided in 1787 to draw water from Graville and gather them in a water tower at the foot of the cliff. It is an underground structure located partly under the impasse d'Alsace. It consists of a gallery of toroidal shape developing around a strong pillar. The circular gallery vaulted with a turning barrel vault has a series of cells or niches, one of which presents an arch that could correspond to the departure of a gallery. The central pillar contains a hall vaulted with a dome, with entry with rectangular dressed stone frame on the south. This water tower was not put into service, but served as a refuge in 1944.
