En 1934, cession par l'Etat à la Ville d'une partie du terrain occupé par les jardins ouvriers de la manufacture des Gobelins pour y aménager une promenade publique. La création de ce jardin fut confiée à Jean-Charles Moreux en février 1936. Le jardin se compose de trois parties : jardin régulier, jardin de verdure et jardin de sport. Il a été inauguré le 12 juin 1938. Les compositions ornant les escaliers sont dues au sculpteur Maurice Garnier.

History
In 1934, transfer by the State to the City of part of the land occupied by the workers' gardens of the Gobelins manufacture to lay out a public promenade. The creation of this garden was entrusted to Jean-Charles Moreux in February 1936. The garden consists of three parts: formal garden, green garden and sports garden. It was inaugurated on 12 June 1938. The compositions adorning the staircases are due to sculptor Maurice Garnier.
