La grande fontaine a été construite en 1822-1823 suivant les plans de l'architecte Louis Nicolas Well dans le cadre d'un projet global incluant d'autres installations hydrauliques. History
The great fountain was constructed in 1822-1823 according to the plans of the architect Louis Nicolas Well within the framework of an overall project including other hydraulic installations. In 1838, various repairs are carried out, in particular the reconstruction of the water-drawing edifice according to the project of the architect Pierre Mougenot. In 1861, the basins were lowered to enable them to be filled during periods of low water, obliging the washerwomen to wash on their knees. Situated to the south of the village, the great fountain is a covered wash-house of rectangular plan, preceded to the north by a water-drawing edifice in a small enclosed courtyard. The wash-house hall is borne by pillars inspired by the Greek Doric of Paestum, which repeats five bays on the long sides.
