La localité fut dotée, avant 1215, d'une enceinte bien entretenue jusqu'au 18e siècle. A cette période, des aménagements importants seront réalisés (nouvelle porte au sud, percements autorisés). La Première Guerre Mondiale causera de nombreux dommages le long du flanc ouest de la localité. Une tour semi-circulaire appartenant à un tronçon de muraille du 13e siècle a cependant résisté à ces destructions. Une maison composée de cinq niveaux est venue s'appuyer sur cette tour entre 1784 et 1831. Il s'agissait peut-être d'un abattoir ou d'une maison de monnaies.

History
The locality was provided, before 1215, with a well-maintained enclosure until the 18th century. During this period, major modifications were carried out (new gateway to the south, authorized openings). The First World War caused considerable damage along the west side of the locality. A semi-circular tower belonging to a section of 13th-century wall nevertheless resisted these destructions. A building composed of five levels came to rest against this tower between 1784 and 1831. It may have been a slaughterhouse or a mint.
