History
The Vieille Porte, one of the last vestiges of the former fortifications of Altkirch, is situated to the north of the town. Its lower part, massive, opens by a large pointed arch; framing with rustic rustication. This part of the tower belongs to the middle of the 14th century. The upper part is built in timber framing; on the lower beam appears the date 1775. The adjoining constructions of the tower, rebuilt, are modern.
