Présumé avoir été créé en 1589, le Moulin Bas de Walheim remonte à la fin du 16e siècle, il est l'un des plus anciens qui soient conservés parmi les 186 moulins que comptait autrefois le Sundgau. Depuis sa fondation, il fait l'objet de plusieurs remaniements : mise en place de quatre roues à aubes motrices décalées au milieu du 19e siècle, destruction du pressoir à huile pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, installation de nouveaux pressoirs en 1919 et 1947. Les ouvertures du bâtiment ont été remaniées en 1961. Malgré la cessation d'activité en 1968, le moulin est toujours en état de fonctionnement.

History
Presumed to have been created in 1589, the Moulin Bas de Walheim dates from the end of the 16th century, and is one of the oldest preserved among the 186 mills that the Sundgau once possessed. Since its foundation, it has undergone several alterations: installation of four offset water wheels in the middle of the 19th century, destruction of the oil press during the First World War, installation of new presses in 1919 and 1947. The openings of the building were altered in 1961. Despite the cessation of activity in 1968, the mill remains in working order.
