Présence sur la butte, peut-être depuis le 12e siècle, d'une Wasserburg attestée au 14e siècle. Un premier remaniement est intervenu après le séisme de 1356 ou les passages des compagnies anglaises en 1376. Un second remaniement a eu lieu à la fin du 15e siècle ou au début du 16e siècle en vue de la défense par les armes à feu. Un troisième remaniement a été fait au 18e siècle, essentiellement en ce qui concerne les ouvertures. La mise en place de l'enclos actuel et de nouveaux aménagements intérieurs ont eu lieu au 19e siècle. Le quatrième remaniement date des environs de 1865, avec la mise en place de balustrades néo-gothiques et du grand escalier double.

History
Presence on the hilltop, perhaps from the 12th century, of a Wasserburg attested in the 14th century. A first remodelling occurred after the earthquake of 1356 or the passages of English companies in 1376. A second remodelling took place in the late 15th century or early 16th century with a view to defence by firearms. A third remodelling was carried out in the 18th century, essentially concerning the openings. The establishment of the current enclosure and new interior modifications occurred in the 19th century. The fourth remodelling dates from around 1865, with the installation of neo-Gothic balustrades and the large double staircase.
