Following a commission in 1888 from the choir "Strassburger Männer-Gesangverein" for a "Sängerhaus", the architects Müller and Kuder built between 1900 and 1903 a building for which one of the first applications in Strasbourg of reinforced concrete according to the Hennebique process was implemented, combining posts and beams. The eclectic façades mix Jugendstil elements in the windows and mouldings with neo-Gothic and Renaissance elements. The overall plan consists of multiple spaces, including a 200-seat restaurant, and is arranged around the large concert hall. Of rectangular form, it contains 1500 to 1800 seats, with boxes and mezzanines. Inside, the coloured spaces display woodwork with curved lines, stained-glass windows and details of Jugendstil ironwork. Originally, the hall was in neo-Baroque style but was modernised in 1935. In 1914, Müller added an extension to the main building.
