Léon Gros, professeur à l'Ecole de médecine et de pharmacie de Clermont-Ferrand, propriétaire depuis le début du XXe siècle d'une pharmacie place Delille, était également passionné par la civilisation égyptienne. Il demanda en 1921 à son ami l'architecte clermontois Louis Jarrier (1862-1932) de concevoir pour sa pharmacie une devanture à l'égyptienne. Jarrier fit notamment appel aux mosaïstes Gentil et Bourdet.

History
Léon Gros, professor at the School of Medicine and Pharmacy of Clermont-Ferrand, owner since the beginning of the 20th century of a pharmacy on place Delille, was also passionate about Egyptian civilisation. He asked in 1921 his friend the Clermont architect Louis Jarrier (1862-1932) to design an Egyptian-style storefront for his pharmacy. Jarrier notably called upon the mosaicists Gentil and Bourdet.
