En 1862, la construction de la synagogue est due à la volonté de la communauté juive de Clermont de s'installer dans l'ancien quartier juif médiéval. L'aménagement d'une petite maison achetée à cette occasion fut confié à François-Louis Jarrier qui éleva une façade presque aveugle comportant une travée centrale architecturée en pierre de Volvic, composée d'un portail à fronton dont l'entablement porte l'inscription "Temple". L'intérieur a perdu ses aménagements lors du déplacement du lieu de culte dans un immeuble de la rue Blatin, en 1966, puis de la cession de l'édifice en 1978 à une loge maçonnique.

History
In 1862, the construction of the synagogue was due to the desire of the Jewish community of Clermont to settle in the former medieval Jewish quarter. The renovation of a small house purchased for this purpose was entrusted to François-Louis Jarrier who erected an almost blank façade featuring a central bay architecturally treated in Volvic stone, composed of a portal with a pediment whose entablature bears the inscription "Temple". The interior lost its fittings when the place of worship moved to a building on rue Blatin in 1966, then the building was ceded in 1978 to a Masonic lodge.
