History

Building constructed around 1880, which may be attributed to the architect Tachet. The quadrangular edifice rises between courtyard and garden, and presents a main façade arranged in six bays, bringing together the characteristic stylistic elements of Tachet's architecture: round-arch arcades on the ground floor struck with a brooch featuring a crowned human head; spandrel rosaces; moulded chamfered reveals of the upper openings surmounted by a dentilled cornice set on consoles with volutes; projecting bands delimiting the storeys. The arched dormers form a pyramidal composition. The two central dormers are topped with a finial which elevates them, and flanked by ailerons. The two lateral dormers are smaller. The two arched niches flanking the central entrance door are furnished with cast-iron statues life-size representing a shepherd and a dancer with tambourine. The vestibule which precedes the staircase comprises exceptional ornamentation. The walls are articulated by fluted columns in Volvic stone. Caryatids on overhanging corbels support the ceiling. Walls and compartmented ceiling are painted with stencil.
