En 1906, l'évêché de Clermont s'installe dans un hôtel particulier du 18e siècle. En 1936, l'architecte Jean Bosser y installe une chapelle. Les ferronneries sont réalisées par Georges Bernardin. Les peintures murales ornant les murs ont été conçues et exécutées par Louis Dussour. Elles illustrent la vie de la Vierge. Le dessin est cerné par des traits noirs (le « cloisonné » mis à la mode par les Nabis) ; le traitement de la perspective évoque la peinture du quattrocento ou la tapisserie médiévale. En arrière-plan figurent les principales villes du département, ainsi que les sites de pèlerinage mariaux. Les grandes verrières, réalisées par l'atelier Antoine Beyssac de Grenoble, adoptent un style Art déco à thème floral stylisé.

History
In 1906, the bishopric of Clermont settled in a private mansion of the 18th century. In 1936, the architect Jean Bosser installed a chapel there. The ironwork is executed by Georges Bernardin. The mural paintings adorning the walls were conceived and executed by Louis Dussour. They illustrate the life of the Virgin. The drawing is outlined by black lines (the "cloisonné" brought into fashion by the Nabis); the treatment of perspective evokes painting of the quattrocento or medieval tapestry. In the background appear the principal towns of the department, as well as sites of Marian pilgrimage.
