L'ouvrage actuel, représentatif des ouvrages de fortifications des 17e et 18e siècles, a été construit après la reprise de l'île en 1763, dans le cadre de l'organisation défensive de tous les points de débarquement amorcée dès 1745. Deux retranchements maçonnés barrent la plage de chaque côté de la redoute en losange. Une guérite de garde-côte permet la surveillance de jour et de nuit. Une des rares à subsister sur l'île.

History
The present structure, representative of fortification works of the 17th and 18th centuries, was built after the recovery of the island in 1763, as part of the defensive organization of all landing points begun as early as 1745. Two masonry entrenchments bar the beach on either side of the diamond-shaped redoubt. A coast guard sentry box allows for surveillance day and night. One of the rare examples to survive on the island.
