Hugues Cosnier, contractor for the construction of the Briare Canal, is the inventor of the system of joined locks, applied notably to the locks of Rogny. The flight of four locks of Moulin-Brûlé was built between 1604 and 1642, widened and lengthened around 1830, then abandoned in favour of a new reach situated slightly lower down, around 1885-1890. The old lock-keeper's house was much altered in the mid-19th century and has retained, as a dependent building, a lime kiln partly buried which may date from the early 19th century. The recent site preserves the only example of an oscillating bridge from the three canals already studied. Built in 1887, its deck pivots around an axis and rises approximately forty centimetres, allowing the tow rope to pass through to prevent a rupture in the pulling.
