History
In 1838, the city constructed a new building to house the town hall and justice of the peace. In 1853, the city decided to rebuild a more spacious building to which a grain hall was to be articulated. The whole was completed in 1858 by architect Pourchot. The town hall follows an almost square plan, with three storeys. The avant-corps of the front façade is heightened with yellow and violet brocatelle. The ground floor is crossed at its centre by a vast vaulted cartway and pedestrian passage with ribbed vaults, which provides access to the grand staircase of the town hall and to the hall. In 1907, the hall is covered by a metal structure by Guillot Pelletier.
