Grand prix d’architecture en 1984 et fervent admirateur de Franck lloyd Wright, Edmond Lay, rompant avec le parti-pris d’immeubles cruciformes prévalant dans le quartier, construit un édifice constitué de plateaux circulaires successifs, créant une impression de densité et d’irrégularité accentuée par l’inclinaison des murs et le parement de pierre des parois. A cet extérieur répond à l’intérieur une organisation de l’espace reposant sur un jeu de courbes et de contre-courbes et que magnifie un vaste atrium central.

L’ancienne Caisse d’Epargne de Mériadeck a été érigée sur une parcelle d’angle, entre un immeuble d’habitation au Nord et un centre commercial à l’Ouest. Sa parcelle mesure 52 mètres par 62 pour une superficie totale de 3 238 m². Comportant plusieurs étages en sous-sol, le plan du bâtiment se structure, en surface, en plateaux successifs organisés autour d’un vide central. Un même étage pouvant donc contenir deux niveaux, la Caisse d’Epargne en compte dix-sept au total. Les plateaux qui la constituent privilégient des formes circulaires, en rupture avec le modèle cruciforme retenu par Willerval pour le quartier de Mériadeck
