La fonction primitive de la maison de Montalban était celle, stratégique, d'une maison forte en position de surveillance du gué du Pas-de-Saint-Georges. La demeure fut agrandie au début et à la fin du 18ème siècle, notamment par l'ajout d'une terrasse au sud. Le bâtiment rectangulaire des communs, au Nord, forme avec la maison une cour donnant, à l'est, sur une cour de communs close par un mur et une tour d'angle circulaire. Face à la maison, une chapelle a été aménagée dans les anciens communs, en 1745 puis redécorée au 19ème siècle. ££Des papiers peints chinois recouvrent les murs de trois pièces de la maison. Deux d'entre eux présentent un fond blanc, le troisième étant vert. Leur décor se compose d'oiseaux de races variées et de papillons voletant ou posés sur des arbres en fleurs ou portant des fruits. Probablement datés des années 1800, la présence de ces trois papiers peints chinois, dans un même endroit, est remarquable.

History
The primitive function of the house of Montalban was that, strategic, of a fortified house in a position to oversee the ford of Pas-de-Saint-Georges. The dwelling was enlarged in the early and late 18th century, notably by the addition of a terrace to the south. The rectangular building of the outhouses, to the North, forms with the house a courtyard opening, to the east, onto a courtyard of outhouses enclosed by a wall and a circular corner tower. Facing the house, a chapel was fitted out in the former outhouses, in 1745 then redecorated in the 19th century. Chinese wallpapers cover the walls of three rooms in the house. Two of them have a white background, the third being green. Their decoration consists of birds of various breeds and butterflies flying or perched on flowering trees or bearing fruit. Probably dating from the 1800s, the presence of these three Chinese wallpapers, in the same place, is remarkable.
