Historique
Le premier phare date de 1836. Détruit en 1944, il est reconstruit de 1946 à 1948 approximativement sur les mêmes plans que le précédent. Il se présente sous la forme d'une tour légèrement tronconique avec partie supérieure de forme dodécagonale surmontée d'un couronnement circulaire en maçonnerie de pierres apparentes. La partie supérieure est peinte en rouge, le reste en blanc. Le soubassement donnant accès au phare a été complété à l'arrière par une salle des machines rectangulaire et reliée au phare par un couloir. La porte d'entrée est surmontée d'un fronton reprenant les dates de construction des deux phares 1840 et 1947, encadrant un bas-relief représentant un navire, un poisson et l'étoile des phares. Le hall d'entrée est orné de mosaïques signées Labouret représentant le bassin d'Arcachon et la presqu'île du Cap Ferret. Deux bustes de Beauchamps-Beaupré et Fresnel complètent le décor. Un ascenseur donne accès à l'ancienne salle de service.

History
The first lighthouse dates from 1836. Destroyed in 1944, it was rebuilt from 1946 to 1948 approximately on the same plans as the previous one. It presents itself in the form of a slightly truncated cone tower with upper part of dodecagonal shape surmounted by a circular crown of visible stone masonry. The upper part is painted red, the rest white. The base giving access to the lighthouse was completed at the rear by a rectangular machine room and connected to the lighthouse by a corridor. The entrance door is surmounted by a pediment taking up the construction dates of the two lighthouses 1840 and 1947, framing a bas-relief representing a ship, a fish and the lighthouse star. The entrance hall is adorned with mosaics signed Labouret representing the Arcachon basin and the Cap Ferret peninsula. Two busts of Beauchamps-Beaupré and Fresnel complete the decoration. A lift gives access to the former service room.
