Historique
Cinéma construit par André Lamire, architecte à Bordeaux, inauguré début 1948 et désaffecté en 1974. Son architecture et son décor intérieur sont particulièrement représentatifs des années 1940-1950. La sobre et imposante façade d'entrée en béton, aux formes très épurées, conserve des influences Art Déco (les colonnes) , mais se situe dans la lignée de Le Corbusier et son école. A l'intérieur, le vaste hall, par sa mosaïque de sol, ses colonnes, ses appliques et ses vases d'ornement, conjugue lui aussi ces deux sources d'inspiration. La salle de spectacle comporte 460 fauteuils rouges et un écran de 12 mètres. Des appliques latérales l'éclairent. Le long du côté est, une cour herbagée permettait aux spectateurs de se détendre.

History
Cinema constructed by André Lamire, architect in Bordeaux, inaugurated in early 1948 and closed in 1974. Its architecture and interior decoration are particularly representative of the 1940s-1950s.
