The castle, part of which dates to the 13th century and the other to the Renaissance, is flanked at its extremity by a tower. At the end of August 1578, the meeting between Henri de Navarre and Catherine de Medici was organized at Langoiran. In the 17th century, the castle being in the possession of the president Daffis, the Duke of Epernon, great enemy of Parliament, seized it, set it alight and demolished it. It was then abandoned and fell into ruins. The point of the slope on which the castle was built was isolated. Three successive terraces precede the highest point on which the keep was built. Thick walls and defences of which only vestiges remain in the vegetation defended this position. The circular keep contains three octagonal vaulted rooms, linked by a staircase pierced through the thickness of the walls. The lantern with spherical dome which surmounts the staircase dates to the 17th century. All the old buildings of the castle date to the late 13th century or the beginning of the 14th. It was restored or reworked in different periods.
