History

Project developed in 1931 by Jean Christol, Léonce Salles and Dufour. Plan organised around a central courtyard. The south wing is reserved for reception, the lateral wings for classrooms and the north wing for various services (gymnasium, showers...). The workshops are grouped around the north courtyard. The two east courtyards, separated by the refectory, are reserved for kitchens and the steward's room. This reinforced concrete construction with flat roof is fairly bold for the time as it rises to three storeys. The wing on Rue Dhuoda concentrates all the decoration: the great cement frieze and that framing the entrance are sculpted by André Méric; the three bas-reliefs under the porch are by Henri Calvet; the hall of celebrations concentrates the paintings of Paul Christol, André Vidal and Armand Coussens. The stained glass is by Georges Janin. The parlour is painted with bucolic scenes by Henri Pertus. The grille was made by the pupils. In the 1960s, a second building was constructed behind the first.
