Dans la partie haute, la rampe Saint-Charles, aménagée dès 1819, est structurée en « pas d'âne », et le sol est régulièrement pavé en ricciata, pierres plantées sur champs. L'escalier monumental conçu par Paul-Augustin Viale et construit entre 1871 et 1874 est constitué de trois volées droites alignées, séparées par deux repos. Il est complété de décors en métal : rampes et gardes-corps réalisés par des forgerons bastiais, ainsi que statue, fontaine et vases commandés à la fonderie du Val d'Osne. Le jardin Romieu est aménagé dans la seconde moitié des années 1870, planté d'essences méditerranéennes ou acclimatées en région méditerranéenne.

History
In the upper part, the Saint-Charles ramp, developed from 1819, is structured in "goat steps", and the ground is regularly paved in ricciata, stones planted on edge. The monumental staircase designed by Paul-Augustin Viale and built between 1871 and 1874 consists of three straight flights aligned, separated by two landings. It is completed with metal decoration: railings and balustrades executed by Bastian blacksmiths, as well as statue, fountain and vases commissioned from the Val d'Osne foundry. The Romieu garden is developed in the second half of the 1870s, planted with Mediterranean species or those acclimated to the Mediterranean region.
