In 1857, the principal landowners of a large island surrounded by the canal of the mills and the Risle, proposed the construction of the bridge. Architect Dennoel established the project for a two-arch bridge, adopted in 1862. The bridge has brick vaults, consisting of two arches in the form of a basket handle, whose piers are protected by circular cutwaters. An N in medallion adorns the spandrels. The structure is characteristic of constructions carried out by the department of Bridges and Roads under the Second Empire.
