Historique
La cour Canel comporte trois bâtiments principaux mitoyens, desservis par une cour commune et implantés avec gouttereau sur cour. Les constructions en alignement comprennent à l'ouest deux immeubles contigus à rez-de-chaussée, en maçonnerie et étage en pan de bois, et, à la suite, un immeuble à logements en pan de bois de plan très barlong. L'immeuble comporte quatorze travées identiques sur solin en calcaire et silex. La structure du pan de bois est encore médiévale avec son encorbellement à entretoises, alors que le décor appartient plutôt à l'extrême fin du 16e siècle (moulures, consoles). L'édifice, qui a été agrandi par surélévation au 18e siècle, correspond à une typologie d'immeuble composé d'unités d'habitations locatives, chacune desservie par un escalier étroit, représentatif des constructions de la ville ancienne de Pont-Audemer. Une restauration a été entreprise après un incendie.

History
The Canel courtyard comprises three main adjoining buildings, served by a common courtyard and implanted with gutter to courtyard. The aligned constructions comprise to the west two adjacent buildings with ground floor in masonry and upper storey in timber framing, and, following, a multi-storey residential building in timber framing of very elongated plan. The building comprises fourteen identical bays on a plinth in limestone and flint. The timber framing structure is still medieval with its corbelling with struts, whereas the decoration belongs rather to the extreme end of the 16th century (mouldings, consoles). The building, which was enlarged by raising in the 18th century, corresponds to a typology of building composed of units of rental dwellings, each served by a narrow staircase, representative of the constructions in the old town of Pont-Audemer. A restoration was undertaken after a fire.
