D'importants vestiges de l'enceinte du château de Lyons, bâti au 12e siècle, sont encore conservés. Dès le 16e siècle, diverses constructions ont été adossées à cette portion de l'enceinte. Les Bénédictines de Saint Charles s'y sont installées avant 1710. Une chapelle a été édifiée cette même année. La communauté a été dispersée en 1742, puis le couvent a été cédé à la ville en 1768. Complétés au cours du 19e siècle, puis démolis en partie au début du 20e siècle, les bâtiments de l'ancien couvent abritent actuellement une école communale, qui y est installée depuis le 19e siècle, et pour laquelle d'importants travaux de consolidation et d'agrandissement ont été réalisés notamment dans les années 1960.

History
Important vestiges of the enclosure of the château de Lyons, built in the 12th century, are still preserved. From the 16th century, various constructions were set against this portion of the enclosure. The Benedictines of Saint Charles installed themselves there before 1710. A chapel was erected that same year. The community was dispersed in 1742, then the convent was ceded to the town in 1768. Completed during the 19th century, then partly demolished in the early 20th century, the buildings of the old convent currently house a communal school, which has been established there since the 19th century, and for which important consolidation and enlargement works were carried out notably in the 1960s.
