History

This is a dovecote on a stone base, with overhanging roof and covered with tiles. It depends on a dwelling whose construction period would very probably date back to the 15th century, modified on many occasions subsequently. The dovecote would also date from the 15th century. It is located in the farmyard, at the south-east boundary. The door, surmounted by a lintel, has jambs sculpted with varied motifs (fleurs de lys, heads of characters and heads of animals). Traces of render are still visible on the exterior and there remains a drip mould as well as a metal roof ridge tile. The building measures 5.5 metres in height and 8.5 metres, roof included, and its interior diameter is 4.8 metres. A low door provides access to the first level and the 445 boulins, arranged diagonally, are executed in stone. The dovecote has undergone transformations: a door was opened then blocked up on the north side, the opening for access for pigeons was enlarged and roughly surrounded with bricks. The roof, for its part, shows serious deterioration.
