Vers la fin du 10e siècle, l'abbaye Saint-Martial de Limoges fonda un prieuré où furent transportées la plupart des reliques de Sainte-Valérie. Le nouveau monastère devint une importante prévôté, mise en commende en 1597 et unie à la congrégation de Cluny en 1708. Les bâtiments sont formés d'un corps de logis prolongé au sud par une construction rectangulaire plus élevée d'un étage. Sur le bâtiment rectangulaire fait saillie une tour circulaire qu'une façade en pan coupé joint au corps de logis. A la suite de cette tour, côté sud, la façade comporte une galerie surélevée dont l'accès se fait par un escalier. L'intérieur conserve une bibliothèque dont les murs sont entièrement lambrissés.

History
Towards the end of the 10th century, the abbey of Saint-Martial de Limoges founded a priory where most of the relics of Sainte-Valérie were transported. The new monastery became an important provostry, placed in commendam in 1597 and united to the congregation of Cluny in 1708. The buildings are formed of a main dwelling extended to the south by a rectangular construction one storey higher. On the rectangular building projects a circular tower which a chamfered façade joins to the main dwelling. Following this tower, on the south side, the façade includes a raised gallery whose access is by a staircase. The interior retains a library whose walls are entirely panelled.
