Historique
Viaduc métallique ferroviaire, construit entre 1882 et février 1885, par la société Les Constructions métalliques et entreprises générales de travaux publics de Levallois-Perret, dirigée par Gustave Eiffel. Le directeur des travaux était l'ingénieur Daigremont. La ligne de chemin de fer (Montluçon-Eygurande) a été ouverte au public le 13 juin 1887. L'ouvrage présente une conception très dépouillée : un élément de fer horizontal (le parapet à croisillon) et des éléments verticaux en maçonnerie (les piles qui le soutiennent et les culées).

History
Metallic railway viaduct constructed between 1882 and February 1885 by the company Les Constructions métalliques et entreprises générales de travaux publics de Levallois-Perret, directed by Gustave Eiffel. The works director was the engineer Daigremont. The railway line (Montluçon-Eygurande) was opened to the public on 13 June 1887. The structure presents a very austere design: a horizontal iron element (the cross-braced parapet) and vertical elements in masonry (the piers that support it and the abutments).
