History
In the midst of the Coubre forest, the engineers of the Todt organization undertook in 1944 the construction of the future Gironde battery, also called the Muschel battery. This position was to comprise four emplacements for 240 mm C/02 06 (f) naval guns mounted on shelters/magazines of type Schwer 542.
